Da Hood

The hood is up and and the backsplash has been grouted. It’s exactly what I was going for and I’m very pleased!

This hood came from IKEA. We saved about $200 by getting it there. It doesn’t have anything written on the outside of it, so it blends fine with the other appliances. We don’t use the hood for ventilation very often. We mostly like having the light on when we cook.

Here’s another view. After we get the glass in the upper cabinets, paint the sill (I’m doing that tomorrow), finish the crown, install the under cabinet outlets (today), and install the light above the sink…we will be done.

I am excited to get that stuff done so that I can start decorating. I’ve been keeping my eye out for rugs, dishtowels, and accessories but I haven’t decided on the exact color scheme yet.

This next shot shows the wall of tile between the doors and kitchen. I really like the way it breaks up all of the white and provides texture.

I also added shades to the bottom row of the chandelier.  They are the $4.99 shades from Lowe’s. I intend on going to Michaels and getting some paint and a stencil to jazz them up.

So that’s where we are right now. Donnie is installing fans in our bedrooms as I type.

Have a good weekend.
