The Guest (Only) Bathroom

The next thing up at the house is electrical. We need to move the junction box and put in the recessed can lights. Again, this isn't a project that lends itself to good pictures, so instead I'll talk about the bathroom.

When we first move in we will all be using the same bathroom. The house currently has three bathrooms, but this will be the only functional one.

So here is the original picture of the bathroom.

As of now, the entire thing is gutted. The only thing that remains is the bathtub. I wanted a new bathtub, but we are using the old one for budgetary reasons. There's really nothing wrong with it except for the size. Those old bathtubs (circa 1951) weren't as deep as today's tubs. It can be cleaned and will look as good as new.

This is the vanity we purchased. It's sitting in a box in our master bedroom.

I ended up getting a little bit of a discount and free shipping, but when I checked the website today it's now 20% off. Dang. I hate that.

Luckily, we got an excellent deal on our tile . It's a typical beige travertine that should work perfectly.

The tile will be laid in 18 x 18 squares on the floor and we'll cut them into 9 x 18 rectangles for the shower walls. Both will be laid in a running bond pattern.

What we're trying to decide is whether we want to run the tile up the bathroom walls like we currently have in our guest bath or whether we want some sort of decorative molding like this.

So that's where we are right now. It's moving slowly, but now that the holidays are over, as well as football season, we should start jamming!
